What is Mebul Herd?

Mebul Herd Manager is a free software application that lets you build up information on your cattle herd so that you can manage your farm efficiently and profitably.

What do I need?

  1. A multi-session NLIS reader that lets you save your cattle RFID tags in a text file for uploading into a computer
  2. An optional set of weigh scales that may or may or may not be attached to your NLIS reader.
  3. A spreadsheet program eg EXCEL that will let you clean up your session files before importing.
  4. To obtain cow calf performance reports you will also need to have a visual Eartag system so that you can pair calves and dams.

How can Mebul Herd help me?

Mebul Herd will keep track of your cattle AND report on paddock and animal performances.
Use an NLIS reader to create session files of each of the different cattle types you carry, eg steers, heifers, cows, to "Draft Cattle" into the system, or "Weigh Cattle" to add weigh records. 
Annual stock take reports show changes in cattle numbers and type, and  Cow Calf Performance reports using corrected weights show which cows need culling. 

How do I get it?

Mebul Herd is free. It is fully operational, and fully supported. To download your copy of Mebul Herd right mouse click on the link below and save the target file Mebul_07Setup.exe on your PC. The download is 22MB.  Run the program to install the database on your PC. For Windows 7 users, install the database inside a folder of your Documents folder.
